The Mamelodi congregation after the Sunday service of Hours and Obednitsa
We could not read North Sotho at all, but some high school pupils in the congregation would read the Psalms in North Sotho, and some of the prayers in both English and North Sotho. We left them tapes of the Resurrectional Troparia and Kontakia for Sundays, and they learnt them. We adapted Russian and Byzantine melodies to the North Sotho texts, and gradually learnt to sing them.

We go sometimes to other parishes. The nearest is the Greek Parish of the Annunciation in Pretoria. Another, a little further away, is the new Russian parish of St Sergius of Radonezh in Midrand, which was concecrated by His Grace Kirill, Bishop of Smolensk, in March 2003, At the patronal festival of the church, in October 2003, the Mamelodi group was asked to sing the Our Father in English.
In the Paschal season in 2004 the Mamelodi congregation was asked to sing parts of the Divine Liturgy at St Thomas's Serbian Orthodox Church in Sandton, near Johannesburg, and shared the singing with the local parish choir. We sang in four languages: North Sotho, English, Slavonic and Greek.
For instance, this is how we sang the Trisagion
Modimo yo Mokgethwa, Mokgethwa yo maatla, Mokgethwa yo a sa felego, re gaugele
Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us
Svyati Bozhe, Svyati Krepki, Svyati Besmertni, pomilui nas
A go tumiswe Tate, le Morwa, le Moya o Mokgethwa;
Bjale le ka mehla, le ka go sa felego. Amen
Mokgethwa yo a sa felego, re gaugele.
Svyati Bozhe, Svyati Krepki, Svyati Besmertni, pomilui nas
