21st of February 2016 the blessed day of the Entronement of Archibishop Ioannis of Zambia and Malawi at the Saint Alexander church in Lusaka -Zambia.
The Metropolitan of Zambia and Malawi Ioannis born Ioannis Tsaftaridis in 1969, on the island of Zakynthos (Greece), his lineage comes from Sevasteia/Sivas of Pontus Anatólia Central.
His Eminence
completed the secondary schooling in his hometown, and then chose the
path of the priesthood entering for studies to the School of Theology,
of the University
of Athens, from where he graduated with distinction. In 2010 receives
the degree of Master from the Greek and Latin Studies Faculty of
Philosophy, from the University of Johannesburg, he is currently busy
writing his PhD thesis for the same University.
His eminence was ordained Deacon on the 21st of November 1993 at the Monastery of Yperagathou, which is under the jurisdiction of the Monastery of Mount Sinai, at the island of Zakynthos by the then Metropolitan Panteleimon of Zakynthos, and then on the 17th of December of the same year he was ordained Presbyter at the Church of St. Irene of Aeolou Street, in Athens by the then Bishop of Dodoni Archimandrite Chrysostom. In 1998 at Zambia he was ordained Archimandrite by the late Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria Petros VII.

Since 1993 his eminence is involved with missionary work under the Ancient Patriarchate of Alexandria within the communities of Zimbabwe, Zambia, Cairo and South Africa. He has either organized or participated in various conferences and authored scientific studies. He is the link between the DSO (Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy) and the Panafrican Parliament (PAP), and from 2005 he represents His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodore II at the same body.
On the 7th of October 2011 he was elected Bishop of Mozambique, and on the 17th of the same month he was ordained Bishop by His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodore II. On the 24 of November 2015, he was elected Bishop of Zambia and Malawi and the enthronement took place on the 21st of February 2016.
