1st July 2018: how was celebrated the Rwandan Independence Day in the Orthodox Church!...

ORTHODOX CHURCH IN RWANDA - PARISH OF THE TWELVE APOSTLES - RWAMAGANA


In the Orthodox Vineyard of Africa

WITH the blessing of His Grace Innocentios Byakatonda, the Bishop of the Orthodox Diocese of Burundi and Rwanda, on this Sunday 1st July 2018: the Rwandan Independence Day, was celebrated a Solemn Divine Liturgy in the Parish dedicated to the Twelve Apostles, East Province of Rwanda, District of Rwamagana, just at the Headquarters of the Orthodox Church in Rwanda.
The Divine Liturgy highlighted two events:the postponed celebration of the Synaxis of the Twelve Apostles that should be celebrated on 30th June and the Ordinary Sunday Service where were commemorated the Holy Unmercenary Healers among others the famous Cosmas and Damianos. 



Father Panagiotis (Jean Claude) UWIHANGANYE, head priest of the Parish of Saint Mary, assisted by Deacon Theodoros (Jean Paul) MUSONERA, presided the Divine Liturgy co-celebrating with the priests from Kenya: Fr. Eleftherios Isaac MUIRURI from the Archdiocese of Nairobi, Bishopric of Nairobi, and Fr. Kallinikos Kinuthia David from the Diocese of Nairobi, Vicarage of Kiambu who, a Week ago, have come in Rwanda to participate to the Youth Theologian Institute organized by the All African Conference of Churches (AACC) and had benefited from the blessing of His Grace Innocentios Byakatonda to visit and co-celebrate.
Among other visitors were Snr Catechist Julius Papadopoulos from the Orthodox Diocese of Nyeri and Mount Kenya, the Seminarian Francis Watene from the Orthodox Theologian Seminary Makarios III in Nairobi, Mr. Emad Atef from the Coptic Church / Egypt who are also participating to the Youth Institute organized by AACC. The team of visitors was escorted by Reader Stephanos Gilbert Pitu Izabayo from the Parish of Saint John Baptist, Georges and Dmitri located in Kaziba, District of Kirehe. 



Reader Tuyisenge Fidele Anastasios who is the representative of the Orthodox Parish of the Twelve Apostles and the Coordinator of the Orthodox Church in Rwanda organized all the Liturgical services, the entertainment after the service, and the fellowship that took place at his home.
