On 6th November 2015, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, who was in Kampala, the capital of Uganda and See of the Holy Metropolis of Kampala and All Uganda, made pastoral visits to the Missionary Centres and Parishes of the city and the surrounding districts.
Specifically, he visited the parish of the Apostle Luke in KABOGNE and the adjacent Schools where he spoke to the pupils, emphasizing the importance of education when it is combined with faith and piety.
He then visited the Clinic of the Holy Metropolis in the area and was briefed about the contribution of the Orthodox Church to the suffering patients in the area.
On the same day the Alexandrian Primate visited the Parish of the Transfiguration of the Saviour in DEGEYA, as well as the Orphanage which is maintained by the Parish, spent time with the orphaned children and gave them gifts; while he also praised the ladies who were so dedicated for their voluntary contribution to the orphans.
Lastly, he went to the Parish of St Antony and the nearby newly-erected Convent of St Mary of Egypt, for which His Beatitude had laid the foundation stone four years ago, spoke about the contribution of Monasticism to the life of the Church and performed the tonsure of one of the novice nuns from the convent, naming her Maria in honour of the Venerable Mary of Egypt.
He also thanked the Sisters of the Holy Monastery of Chrysopege Crete, which supports the Convent in Uganda and gave the spiritual foundations to the first nuns of this new Sisterhood.

Continuing his many days of missionary journey to the Holy Metropolis of Kampala and All Uganda, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, visited the Lake Victoria area and the Parishes and Schools around there, on 7th November 2015.

During his visit to the Parish of St Basil in KIKWANYA, among other things he said, His Beatitude made special mention of the name of His Eminence Prokopios, Metropolitan of Phillipon, who did whatever possible to assist in the building of this Holy Church and who has visited this area many times with missionary groups from his Metropolis.

The Patriarch then went to the BUTEMBE are where the Primary School dedicated to the name of the late Fr. Obadiah, first Priest in Uganda and Grandfather of the present Metropolitan Jonas of Kampala, is situated.

Also, on the same day, he visited the Parish of the Nativity of the Theotokos in BUGOLO, where there used to be a church-straw hut, which is now an erected beautiful Church.

Next on the agenda of his laborious journey to Lake Victoria and specifically to the BUSANA district, His Beatitude conducted the Sanctification of Water at the Holy Monastery of St Paraskeve, and during his homily before the laying of the foundation stone, warmly thanked the Hegumen of the Holy Monastery of the same name in Mazio, Megara, Archimandrite Chrysostomos, who supports the efforts of building of the Holy Monastery and has hosted its first monk, Fr. Prodoromos, for many years, when he was studying in Greece.

Lastly, His Beatitude held a synaxis of all the clergy of the Holy Metropolis of Kampala at the Metropolitan Church of St Nicholas, gave them the necessary guiding advice and thanked them for their sacrificial ministry in the Lord’s Vineyard.
